Ghost Hunters heads to Baton Rouge to investigate haunted Old State Capital

SyFy’s Ghost Hunters, a paranormal reality show lead by Jason Hawes, heads south to investigate the haunted Old State Capital inBaton Rouge, LA in an episode entitled “Paranormal Politics” says WAFB Channel 9. The episode airs at 9/8c on Oct. 10.

Shadowslands reports that the Old State Building is thought to be haunted by the ghost of Pierre, a congressmen who reportedly died of a heart attack in his forties as a result of a political disagreement. The guards and tour guides of the building report doors mysteriously opening and closing.

Other reports include the apparition of Pierre on the second floor of the building, and alarms mysteriously going off on their own when no one is around, says Shadowlands

Carl Smith, a maintenance worker at the Old State Capital told WAFB Channel told Channel 9, “I never seen anything, but I have heard and have had things happen to me, [that] you know, I couldn’t really explain. There’s something going on here. As far as being haunted, I wouldn’t say that. But there is something going on that I can’t explain.”

According to SyFy, the Old State building “endured the Civil War” and the death of a congressman.

A sneak preview on SyFy reveals a strange growl heard by Steve and Jason, but no information is given as to the source of this eerie sound.
